President Vladimir Putin declared this as quoted by the Ria Novosti news agency: «Rosatom (the Russian nuclear authority, ed.) is committed to creating advanced weapons capable of maintaining a strategic balance in the world», he said.
Putin added that «it is gratifying that today the staff of the state corporation Rosatom is valorizing the wonderful traditions of their predecessors. They are working on the introduction of innovative technologies in the energy and space sectors, in nuclear medicine, in ecology, the modernization of the fleet of nuclear icebreakers and on the creation of advanced weapons capable of maintaining strategic balance in the world ».
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov instead spoke on the war in Ukraine: « We are ready to negotiate, but taking into account the reality that has developed on the ground and taking into account our position, which is well known to everyone. Kiev has the goal of exterminating everything Russian on those lands, both in Crimea and in Novorossiya."
