Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner for five hours to discuss a possible peace plan for Ukraine, explaining in an interview with India Today that the length of the meeting was dictated by the complexity of the issues discussed.

"Working on the peace plan for Ukraine is difficult," Putin said. "Every point should be discussed in detail, as Russia doesn't agree with everything. That's why it took so long. It was a necessary conversation, absolutely concrete."

The Russian president noted that, despite in-depth discussions, there were points on which consensus was not reached. The meeting reflects the parties' commitment to exploring possible diplomatic solutions, even if significant differences remain.

"US President Donald Trump is sincerely trying to find a consensual solution to the Ukrainian problem, but this task is not easy," Putin added. "This is a difficult task and

a difficult mission that President Trump has taken on: to succeed in achieving a

consensus between the parties in conflict is not an easy task."
