On the eve of the face-to-face meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin—a meeting described as historic and from which the West hopes will lead to a positive outcome in the war in Ukraine—the White House resident himself is making predictions:

"There's a 25% chance the meeting with Putin won't be successful," he says in an interview on Fox News Radio's 'The Brian Kilmeade Show. ' In fact, Trump also claims that the Kremlin leader "is confident he will reach an agreement." And "I believe he will," he says.

If that's the case, Trump says Friday's meeting in Alaska with Putin should be followed by a trilateral summit with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which he considers "necessary for the agreement." This meeting will be "very, very important; there will be exchanges on borders and territories ," Trump notes. A second meeting will be held in which "we'll see whether to include European leaders."

But, going step by step, the tycoon explains that, if the meeting in Alaska is positive, "we will call President Zelensky." Not only that. "I will hold a press conference. I don't know if it will be a joint conference with Putin because we haven't discussed it yet, but I think it would be nice to have a joint conference and then part ways," he explains. If it ends badly, however, "I won't call anyone and I'll go home," the tycoon states. "I will hold a press conference to say that the war will continue, and these people will continue horribly shooting and killing each other, and I think that's a disgrace."

For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin , meeting with Russian Federation leaders ahead of tomorrow's summit, believes that the Trump administration "is making effective efforts to end hostilities in Ukraine." He also added that "peace will be achieved if Russia and the US manage to reach an agreement on nuclear weapons."
