Seventeen of Tuesday's arrests were made by the California Highway Patrol as it cleared protesters from Highway 101, while the LAPD made 10 arrests during brawls downtown, the police chief said.
Some officers were slightly injured and the National Guard fired rubber bullets at the eye and leg level at the protesters . Special forces are also on standby, with 500 marines ready to be deployed.
California Governor Gavin Newsom has accused Donald Trump of being a dictator . “Inciting and provoking violence, creating mass chaos, militarizing cities, arresting opponents. These are the acts of a dictator, not a president,” the Democrat attacked in a post on X.
