A portrait in a dark suit marking the formal entry into adolescence for George, the eldest son of British Crown Prince William and Princess Kate: this is how the royal family is celebrating the little prince's 13th birthday, second in line to the crown and ready to enter the prestigious private college Eton in September, a school already attended by his father and uncle Harry.
The photo, taken by court photographer Matt Porteous, was shared on the social media profiles of Kensington Palace , the official residence of the Prince and Princess of Wales. It was accompanied by good wishes from their parents and siblings, as well as those of their estranged grandfather, King Charles III, and Queen Camilla.
George, in a blue jacket and trousers, without a tie and with his hands in his pockets, was immortalised by Porteous in the park of Kensington Palace a few weeks ago, on the sidelines of the Trooping the Colour parade , a public celebration of the official (but not chronological) birthday of the reigning sovereign which takes place every year in June regardless of the date of birth of the king or queen in office.
