"Alert for a possible large-scale Russian attack in Ukraine". The alarm - launched by US intelligence sources - has led several countries to close their embassies, advising their nationals to leave Ukrainian territory or to comply with specific security measures. Among these are Italy, Spain and Greece.

But then the alert was called off, amidst denials and controversy. And some are talking about Moscow's "psychological warfare."

«The US Embassy has shared information on its website about a possible high-intensity air strike today, November 20. As a precaution, the embassy in Kiev will be closed to the public today. The embassy ata remains operational», the message appeared on the website of the Italian embassy in Kiev. «In the event of an air raid alert – the note continues -, all Italian citizens present in the country are advised to follow the most stringent risk mitigation measures and to immediately go to the nearest shelter».
