With a score around 64%, the socialist António José Seguro is on track to become the new president of the Portuguese Republic. All the pre-election polls are thus confirmed, and the moderate left candidate, who had already won in the first round, wins, defeating the leader of the sovereignist Chega party, André Ventura, who hovered around 35%.
It was a difficult election, deeply marked by the extreme weather that in Portugal in recent days has caused 14 deaths and extensive damage.
Some municipalities, representing a total of approximately 36,000 voters, have postponed this runoff until February 15th, but it's clear that this result won't alter Sunday night's outcome.
