Portugal on fire: Sardinia offers logistical support for pilots of aircraft

Sardinia also collaborates in the battle against the fires that are ravaging Portugal .
The National Department of Civil Protection has in fact requested the logistical support of the Region to host a crew from Greece (29 people including pilots and technicians), which from Sunday will be engaged in the Lusitanian country with two Canadair and a C130 .
Portugal, in fact, explains Villa Devoto, in view of the worsening wind conditions, has declared the alert for high risk of fires in most of the national territory and requested the activation of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism for a pre-positioning of four Canadair that are part of the European pool.
"The Sardinia Region with a great spirit of solidarity and collaboration made itself available immediately, also recalling the support of the Greeks during the fires in Montiferru last year", said the president Christian Solinas , who, together with the Councilor for Defense of the environment, Gianni Lampis, accepted the request and gave a mandate to the director general of Sardinian civil protection, Antonio Pasquale Belloi, to follow the operations.
