"After two years of darkness, we want a Christmas of light." This was stated by the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, as he entered the West Bank on his way to Bethlehem, after recently making a special Christmas visit to the Christian community in the Gaza Strip.

Significantly, Pizzaballa paused to make some remarks in front of the separation wall with the West Bank. "We know the problems are still there," he said, "but now we must turn the page. We saw it in Gaza, we see it in Bethlehem, and throughout the Holy Land. Merry Christmas."
