Pentagon chief Hegseth's gaffe: He wants to quote the Bible, but it's a scene from Pulp Fiction.

On Wednesday, during a religious service at the Pentagon, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth read what he described as a prayer inspired by the Bible verse Ezekiel 25:17, committing an incredible gaffe .
The text quoted by the Pentagon chief, in fact, does not correspond to the Bible, but is the altered version recited in Pulp Fiction by the character played by Samuel L. Jackson .
Hegseth said the prayer was recited by one of the teams involved in the mission to recover the missing pilot after the downing of an F-15 in Iran .
But he got it completely wrong, quoting a revised version (to fit the pilot case) of the sermon before which Samuel L. Jackson killed his victim in one of the opening scenes of Quentin Tarantino's film .
The path of the downed airman is besieged on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of brotherhood and duty, leads the lost through the valley of shadows, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of his lost sons. And I will come down upon you with great vengeance and blind fury, upon those who seek to capture and destroy my brother, and you shall know that my call sign is Sandy 1 when I pour out my vengeance upon you. Amen.
A gaffe that didn't go unnoticed, especially since it's one of the most famous scenes in the film and in cinema in general.
The Bible verse, in reality, is much shorter: "I will execute terrible vengeance on them, furious punishments, and they will know that I am the Lord, when I execute vengeance on them."
