An interview with Michael Schumacher slammed into the front page, all done with artificial intelligence.
Scandal in Germany for the cover of the German magazine Die Aktuelle , which presents as authentic and world exclusive a long chat with the former driver whose health conditions are shrouded in mystery after the tragic skiing accident in Meribel at the end of 2013.
For years his wife Corinna Betsch, and all the people closest to him, have taken care of Michael in complete discretion, revealing very little.
But then mysteriously the seven-time world champion is in top form and "answers" questions about the accident ten years ago, his career, his children Mick and Gina . None of this is real: the alleged conversation originated from the technology of a chatbot, similar to ChatGpt, which is called Character.ai.
The somewhat questionable editorial choice is made even more serious by the misleading promotion and by the fact that the true nature of the article is mentioned only at the foot of the page. The newspaper now risks criminal consequences. "A serious case and a precedent that should not be underestimated," commented the German analyst Boris Rosenkranz .
