Ilaria Salis' detention regime "has been partly limited, she can now hold regular conversations with her family via Skype". After the last consular visit on 13 December last "the restrictions of this severe detention were mitigated as far as possible".

Justice Minister Carlo Nordio at question time in the Senate intervenes on the story of Ilaria Salis, the Sardinian teacher living in Milan who has been detained for almost a year in a maximum security prison in Budapest on charges of having attacked two neo-Nazis, who suffered injuries that healed in a few days, during the Day of Honor in which supporters of Hitler's ideology take part.

"We participate with great interest and with great attention to the pain of the family members and I can assure you that we will do everything in compliance with the rules and prerogatives of national and international jurisdiction to mitigate the situation of this person and weaken it", said Nordio, claiming what has already done and recalling that at the next hearing of the trial, on January 29, "the presence of representatives of the embassy is expected".

«We share the concern and pain from the human point of view of the father, who sees his daughter confined in prison – added Nordio -. The Italian government, through its representatives, did everything to mitigate this situation at the first hearing before the judicial authority, also presented by an embassy official who interfaced with the girl's lawyer. The detention regime has been partly limited, in the sense that he can now hold regular conversations with family members via Skype. The last consular visit was held on 13 December and the restrictions of this severe imprisonment were thus mitigated as far as possible."
