Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the United States splits the American Congress and sparks controversy.

“I came here to assure you of one thing, that we will win and ours will be a total victory,” the Tel Aviv leader said in his speech to Congress in Washington, explaining that the one with Hamas is a “clash of civilisations”.

A strong defense of the desire to continue with the war in Gaza which has raised many doubts, especially among democratic representatives, some of whom have openly contested it, even with placards reading "War criminal".

Nancy Pelosi called Netanyahu's speech "the worst speech to Congress by a foreign leader." “The families of the hostages – added Pelosi – want a ceasefire to bring them home and we hope that the prime minister will spend his time achieving this goal”.
