Alexey Navalny vanished into thin air for six days , officials of the prison where he was held say he has been transferred, but it is not known where.

The spokeswoman for Putin's main opponent is worried about the fate of Navalny, who today did not appear at a trial hearing in which he was supposed to participate via videoconference from prison.

“This is the sixth day that we don't know where he is or what's happening to him.” The officials of the IK-6 penal colony, where Navalny is detained, "are making fun of us". Initially they spoke of alleged problems with the electricity grid . On December 8, one of the dissident's lawyers remained in front of the prison all day without being able to see him. Today, penal colony officials told the Lawyer that Navalny “is no longer on our lists,” but “they refuse to say where he has been transferred.”

Navalny was sentenced to 19 years in August on clearly politically motivated extremism charges . He may have been transferred to a maximum security prison, but the lack of transparency from the Russian authorities makes the dissident's lawyers fear the worst.
