They spent their first night stranded in Dubai on the MSC Euribia cruise ship, trapped by the ongoing war, which has seen the United Arab Emirates targeted by Iranian missiles launched in retaliation for the attacks conducted by the US and Israel in the Islamic Republic to decapitate the regime.

Everyone's fine, but tensions inevitably rise. Among them is a group of Sardinians.

"The ship's crew is doing everything they can," they told ANSA, "but frankly, we don't feel completely safe."

The moment of greatest concern came when some passengers on deck saw flashes and heard the sounds of anti-aircraft fire , likely intercepting drones and missiles heading toward the city. The alarm went off on the phones of many people aboard the ship just after midnight.

"At that moment," some Sardinian cruise passengers say, "there were only a few people on deck, and there wasn't much panic on board. At that point, everyone made their way downstairs. The MSC crew is doing their best, but some passengers were clutching their children and crying in fear. There were people crowded together at the reception desk, and other similar scenes."

The Italians were scheduled to depart from Doha today for Fiumicino. The Sardinian group had then scheduled a further flight from Rome to Cagliari tomorrow.

Passengers have been informed that the situation remains unchanged: the ship's staff is awaiting updates from local authorities before being allowed to leave port.
