"We are somewhat surprised by the turmoil over the issue and the disagreements " with Rome. These were the words of a spokeswoman for the German Interior Ministry, responding today to a question about Germany's deportations of Dubliners to Italy.
"And this is because Germany and Italy have been collaborating well for some time on the migration issue and on the implementation of the common asylum system : in autumn 2025, we concluded bilateral agreements with Italy and Greece, establishing that the Dublin rules would be re-applied from the entry into force of the Common European Asylum System in June 2026."
«And this means that Dublin expulsions will also be carried out towards Italy » he added, explaining that « at the moment these are mainly cases following the entry into force » of the new EU Pact .
