Alarm in New Zealand , where police said they recovered 29 methamphetamine tablets disguised as pineapple sweets and distributed to the public for charity.

A tragedy, at least for now, narrowly avoided: tests revealed that one of the candies contained approximately three grams of methamphetamine, a potentially lethal dose of this addictive drug.

Four people — two children, a teenager and a charity worker — have so far received medical attention after tasting the sweets, police said. None are in serious condition.
