Meloni and Tajani: "Trump will win the Nobel Peace Prize if he closes the deal between Russia and Ukraine."

"Giorgia Meloni didn't say 'I hope Trump gets the Nobel Prize.' But if she manages to close the deal between Ukraine and Russia after bringing about a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, she can win the Nobel Prize. I think it's a fair recognition; if she succeeds in this endeavor, she deserves it. This is incontrovertible; it may be more or less sympathetic, but this is a fact: if she achieves her goal, it will be incontrovertible." This was stated by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on the sidelines of a Forza Italia pro-justice event in Rome.
The Deputy Prime Minister is therefore also on the same wavelength as the Prime Minister, who yesterday stated: "I hope we can award the Nobel Peace Prize to Trump, and I trust he can make a difference in achieving a just peace in Ukraine."
These words, however, sparked a harsh reaction from the opposition. "Yesterday," said Democratic Party secretary Elly Schlein , "we heard the prime minister propose the Nobel Peace Prize to US President Trump. She did so in the days when President Trump sent an armed federal agency into the streets of Minneapolis, where not only a few weeks ago, ICE's abuse of force killed a woman, a mother , a poet, who had done nothing. Just recently, we saw the same ICE arrest a five-year-old boy after bringing him to her doorstep to use him as bait and then get his mother out and arrested as well. Do we realize," the Democratic leader concluded, "what is happening? And should a great country like Italy really propose the Nobel Peace Prize today to the president of the United States who is doing these things? I believe our Italy doesn't deserve to slide so low."
