Five young men from Puglia – four from Brindisi and one from Lecce, aged 17 to 19 – are under investigation for aggravated gang rape , following a complaint filed by a 19-year-old woman in Treviso at a provincial Carabinieri station for alleged abuse she suffered while on holiday in Malta a few weeks ago.
According to the girl's complaint, the victim met the group of young men from Puglia during her stay in Malta and, after spending an evening with them at some clubs, accepted their invitation to follow them to their apartment.
According to the girl, the rape occurred here, and was also filmed on the cell phone of one of the suspects. The five men from Brindisi deny the charges.
Law enforcement has begun a series of checks on the cell phones of the five Apulians and the girl to acquire further evidence for investigative purposes.
