"I never want to bother the French. I protest all day with the administration when it puts obstacles. And instead, with the unvaccinated, I really want to bother (but the term used is emmerder, much stronger, more or less equivalent to our "pissing" or "pissing off"). And so we'll keep doing it, right up to the end. That's the strategy. "
These are the words with which the French president, Emmanuel Macron, in answering a question in an interview with Le Parisien, announced the hard line against those across the Alps who have not yet undergone the anti-Covid vaccination.
"In a democracy - says Macron - the worst enemy are lies and stupidity. We put pressure on the unvaccinated by limiting them, as far as possible, access to the activities of social life. On the other hand, almost all people, besides 90%, have joined. It is a very small minority that is refractory. And how do you reduce it? It reduces it, excuse the expression, breaking the boxes even more ".
"I don't put them in prison, I don't vaccinate them by force - continued Macron - but we tell them: starting from January 15, you will no longer be able to go to restaurants, you will no longer be able to go for a glass of wine, a coffee, you will not be able to more going to the theater or the cinema ... ".
