"I have ordered an increase in the number of nuclear warheads in our arsenal," French President Emmanuel Macron announced, adding that France would no longer disclose the number of nuclear warheads at its disposal.

“We must strengthen,” Macron explained, “our nuclear deterrence in the face of this combination of threats , and we must reflect on our deterrence strategy in the depths of the European continent, while fully respecting our sovereignty, through the progressive implementation of what I would call advanced deterrence.”

"We are living," the French president continued, "in a period of geopolitical upheaval fraught with risks, and our fellow citizens are fully aware of this. This period justifies a strengthening of our model."
