A tragedy in which the family of Luciano Capasso, the 25-year-old from Campania who died in the snow on the mountains of Saint Moritz , denounce "gross negligence" on the part of the Swiss authorities regarding requests for help.
The disappearance dates back to five days ago: the young man, who worked as a hotel driver, had gone hiking at an altitude of 2,700 meters when, according to Swiss police, he was caught in a snowstorm. He had been missing since then.
"The search never began, and right from the start of the story, last Thursday, my mother was sarcastically told, 'Get ready for a funeral.' The next day, however, they told me, 'Give up, we don't have a magic sphere,' and then abruptly hung up. Their excuse was that they had weather problems," said Emmanuel Capasso, brother of the deceased 25-year-old.
The young man's mother, Raffaella Grande, has already contacted a lawyer, Sergio Pisani.
"Luciano was not a fool," Pisani said, "in fact , he was a former soldier, trained specifically to survive in extreme situations . We had precise geolocation, but the bad weather prevented a recovery, which was very quick this morning with the sun shining. I wonder if resources such as drones or other means could have been used to find him in the previous days despite the bad weather: other circumstances also need to be verified, but now is the time of grief," Pisani concluded.
The Swiss authorities have informed the family that "there will be no investigation and have given the green light for the return of the body, which could perhaps take place as early as tomorrow. I don't know if an investigation will be opened in Italy; we have no communications to that effect at this time," the victim's brother added.
