Daring coup at the Louvre Museum in Paris.

Four thieves, French media report, swung into action and stole nine pieces from Napoleon and the Empress's jewelry collection , including a necklace, a brooch, and a tiara. Two of the gang were dressed as workers and wearing yellow vests, while the other two were on a scooter , which they then fled on . According to the reconstruction so far, the robbery took just seven minutes.

The jewels were on display in the showcases dedicated to Napoleon and the French sovereigns in the Apollon Gallery . Two of the jewels were reportedly found outside the museum, including the crown of Empress Eugénie , which was damaged.

Following the incident, the museum – the most visited in the world – announced it would be closed for the whole day on Sunday.

"A robbery occurred at the opening this morning," French Culture Minister Rachida Dati wrote on social media. "No one was injured. The investigation is ongoing."

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez called the gang's loot "priceless jewels."
