A lioness mauled a 6-year-old boy. It happened at the Khan Younis zoo, south of Gaza.

The police force explained that the little Hamada Iqtiet would have climbed the fence in which the cage was located, approaching the animal through an opening, and the lioness rushed against him. According to the child's family, however, Hamada had only reached an external enclosure with respect to the one where the lion was.

Grabbed by the head, the little wounded boy was rescued and taken to the hospital, where he died shortly after.

The zoo has been closed, an investigation is ongoing.
