The European Parliament approved an amendment which "strongly condemns the dissemination of anti-rights, anti-gender and anti-Lgbtiq rhetoric by some influential political leaders and governments in the EU, as in the case of Hungary, Poland and Italy".

The amendment, approved with 282 votes in favour, 235 against and 10 abstentions, was included by the Green delegation in the report on the universal decriminalization of homosexuality.

It therefore unites our government with the Polish and Hungarian ones . The text of the amendment reads: «Parliament expresses its concern at the current global anti-rights, anti-Lgbtiq rhetorical movements, fueled by some political and religious leaders around the world, including in the EU; considers that such movements significantly hinder efforts to achieve universal decriminalization of homosexuality and transgender identity, as they legitimize the rhetoric that LGBTIQ people are an ideology rather than human beings; strongly condemns the dissemination of such rhetoric by some influential political leaders and governments in the EU, as in the case of Hungary, Poland and Italy ».

The Socialists, sources from the group explain, have given a favorable indication for the amendment and the Democratic Party has not given any other indication. The M5S voted in favor and the two groups that signed the proposal, the Greens and the Left, also certainly voted in favor.
