In recent days, the Italian contingent employed in the UNIFIL mission conducted two interventions to support the civilian population in southern Lebanon, specifically in Tyre and at the government hospital in Tibnin, in the Bint Jbeil district.
In Tyre, medicines and medical supplies were delivered to the local Red Cross, to support the organizations working to assist the population and displaced persons from areas near the Blue Line. The initiative was carried out with the support of Italian organizations and associations, including the Sardinia Region , the municipalities of Sorso and Uri , the Sassari Red Cross , the Ozieri Lions Club , and the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George .
The work continued at the Tibnin government hospital, where medicines, hygiene kits, medical and hospital equipment, and food supplies were distributed to the most vulnerable segments of the population . The distributed materials were purchased thanks to contributions from Italian organizations and associations, including the International Police Association of Pesaro for medical supplies and the Banco Farmaceutico Foundation.
The interventions are part of the civil-military cooperation activities in favour of local communities, contributing to supporting essential services and mitigating the effects of the ongoing crisis in southern Lebanon.
