The commander of the Sassari Brigade, General Andrea Fraticelli, coordinated a major humanitarian operation that allowed the safe evacuation from Rmeish, Lebanon, of numerous civilians in urgent need of medical assistance .
Injured, they had been trapped in the town for several days due to the intensification of hostilities along the main access routes.
The intervention was launched after the situation was brought to the attention of Fraticelli, commander of UNIFIL's Western Sector, who was on site delivering humanitarian aid such as medicines, food, personal hygiene products, and a vehicle intended for the local community.
UNIFIL peacekeepers, coordinating with the IDF, allowed Red Cross and Civil Protection vehicles to take care of the wounded – including women, children and elderly people – and carry them safely out of the fighting zone , which remained completely isolated.
The operation concluded successfully yesterday evening, when ambulances reached the city of Tyre and from there the civilians were able to continue their journey to Beirut to receive the necessary treatment.
This is one of the many activities that UNIFIL soldiers carry out in support of the civilian population affected by the conflict, in a very complex context in which IDF and Hezbollah raids continue unabated, and are also jeopardizing negotiations between the United States and Iran.
This morning, the IDF ordered the evacuation of the city of Tyre: "In light of the terrorist party Hezbollah's violation of the ceasefire agreement and its targeting of the Israeli home front, the IDF is forced to operate forcefully against it. The IDF does not intend to harm you," Avichay Adraee, the Israeli army's Arabic-language spokesman, warned on X.
