A summit between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky is "not yet on the agenda," but the Russian president is open to such a meeting as soon as the agenda is finalized.
This was stated by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, quoted by Tass. Lavrov also explained that during Monday's meeting in Washington between Zelensky and Trump, the Ukrainian president rejected all of the American president's proposals for a solution to the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
As is known, the White House worked to secure a location and date for a summit between Putin and Zelensky after Trump's meeting with Putin in Alaska and subsequent talks with Zelensky and European leaders in Washington.
But according to Lavrov, Kiev is blocking the path to a peace agreement. "President Putin has clearly stated his readiness to meet, provided that this meeting truly has an agenda, a presidential agenda," Lavrov explained in a series of statements reported by Tass and NBC News.
On the US front , Donald Trump said: " I think within two weeks I'll know where Russia stands, and frankly, where Ukraine stands . I'll make a decision then: it could be new sanctions, tariffs, or both . Or we could do nothing and say it's their fight." Asked if there was a possibility of not intervening if Putin refused to negotiate, the president replied: " We'll see whose fault it is. We'll know soon enough whether Zelensky and Putin will meet or not ."
