The Spanish Guardia Civil is investigating the death of a 45-year-old Italian woman in Formentera. The woman was found dead yesterday morning in an apartment on the island, in the Es Pujols area. ANSA learned this from sources close to the investigation. The cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed, but one of the leading theories is that the woman, LA according to Diario de Ibiza, was the victim of gender-based violence.

According to local media, investigators have questioned his companion, IS, also Italian, but the Guardia Civil has not yet confirmed the rumor that he has been arrested.

Investigations revealed that the two had been living in Formentera for some time. She, in particular, had been living on the Balearic island for years, with a son from a previous relationship.

LA's body was found at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, when emergency medical services arrived at the victim's home in the Mirada 1 tourist complex, on Avenida Miramar in Es Pujols, alerted by a call to 112. The time of death was placed between 3 and 8 a.m.

Es Pujols is Formentera's main tourist destination, located in the northeastern part of the island. It is one of the most popular areas for the resident Italian community.
