A 41-year-old Italian pizza maker, Gesuel Mandaglio, was killed in a robbery last November 28 in Marseille, where he had moved for work.
But the family members learned of the crime only ten days later, last December 8, when the carabinieri of Calolziocorte, the town on the border between Lecco and Bergamo where they live, showed up at home to inform them.
"It's heartbreaking - says Gesuel's sister, Valentina Mandaglio - I haven't been able to bury my brother yet. When the carabinieri told me about his death, a piece of my heart flew away with him".
Valentina Mandaglio speaks from the threshold of the gate of the red terraced house where she lives, in Torre de 'Busi. Yesterday the news began to circulate throughout the San Martino valley, when there was the certainty of the body's return home and the funeral was scheduled.
From what was reconstructed, on the evening of the murder he had left the club after the end of the shift and was allegedly attacked by one or more people, who stabbed him in the abdomen. In a few minutes he died. When help arrived, he had nothing left in his pocket, not even documents.
The lack of the latter would have complicated identification and family members would have been notified with delay.
