A cake decorated with guns and a noose , a controversial symbol of support for Israel's move to reintroduce the death penalty for Palestinians deemed terrorists , was among the 50th birthday gifts received by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, the Times of Israel reports. Videos and photos of the cake were posted on the official social media of his far-right party, Otzma Yehudit.

The same newspaper reports that Ben-Gvir , who oversees the police and has long been criticized for alleged undue interference in law enforcement, celebrated the party last night at a location in the farming community of Emunim, near Ashdod, in southern Israel.

Among the guests, the Times of Israel adds, were "other high-level politicians, far-right activists and members of the police staff."

The noose cake also included a map with the Israeli flag over an area encompassing Gaza and the West Bank. Ben-Gvir's wife also presented the minister with another cake, also featuring a noose and the words, "Congratulations to Minister Ben-Gvir. Sometimes dreams do come true."
