Israel's Central Election Commission chairman, Judge Noam Sohlberg, has asked the Shin Bet chief to investigate allegations of foreign interference in the election due to suspected electoral corruption by Qatar after domestic intelligence chief David Zini presented information he described as "exceptionally serious."

Channel 12 reports that "the suspicion currently being investigated concerns the transfer of large sums of money by Arab individuals, with the aim of increasing voter turnout in the Arab community through illegal means."

"I am in contact with the relevant authorities and receiving updates regarding suspicions of foreign interference in the elections," Gadi Eisenkot, leader of the Change Bloc, wrote on X after learning of the Central Election Commission chairman's request. "The State of Israel," he added, "must take the utmost care to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process from any attempts at interference, media manipulation, and tampering with the results, and thoroughly investigate all complaints," he added. "On the other hand, politicians must not be allowed to exploit this situation to influence the inauguration date of the 26th Knesset, Israel's parliament."
