The Israeli military says it aims to conquer 75 percent of the Gaza Strip within two months as part of a new offensive against Hamas.
The Palestinians will reportedly be squeezed into three small zones. This means that Gaza’s roughly two million residents will be squeezed into an area equivalent to just 25 percent of the Strip when the expanded ground operation is launched. The IDF plans were seen by The Times of Israel. The army currently controls about 40 percent of the Strip.
The news of Tel Aviv's total lack of will for peace comes on the day that Palestinian National Authority Prime Minister Mohamed Mustafa said: "This hell" that Gaza and the West Bank are experiencing "must end immediately and unconditionally. We have officially declared famine in Gaza. The international community must act with the urgency and seriousness that a declaration of this magnitude requires." These words were spoken during his speech at the meeting of 20 European and Arab ministers of the Madrid+ group in the Iberian capital.
Mustafa accused Israel of “clear and ongoing war crimes” with “the deliberate denial of food and aid, the incessant bombing and the destruction of all life.” He added that the situation in the West Bank and Jerusalem “is equally grave.”
