"In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, passage for all commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is declared fully open for the remainder of the ceasefire period on the coordinated route as already announced by the Ports and Maritime Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran," Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi announced on X.

The announcement was also welcomed by US President Donald Trump : "Iran has just announced that the Strait of Hormuz is fully open and ready for full transit. Thank you ," the Washington leader wrote on his social media platform, Truth. "Iran, with the help of the United States, has removed or is removing all mines" at sea, Trump added. "Iran," the US president also stated, "has agreed to never again close the Strait of Hormuz. It will no longer be used as a weapon against the world."

The reopening came after the announcement of a ten-day truce between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, and while the Hormuz Maritime Conference was underway at the Élysée Palace in Paris. The conference was attended by French President Macron, British Prime Minister Starmer, Prime Minister Meloni, and German Chancellor Merz, along with representatives from several countries. The next round of US-Iran negotiations is expected on Sunday, again scheduled to take place in Islamabad, Pakistan.
