Iran has suspended negotiations with the US and says it is ready for a new total closure of the Hormuz Strait and other Straits . There will be no talks between Tehran and Washington until Iranian demands regarding the cessation of Israeli operations in Lebanon and Gaza are met.

The Iranian news agency Tasnim highlights that «Iranian officials and negotiators have called for the immediate cessation of the Zionist regime's aggressive and brutal operations in Gaza and Lebanon , as well as the regime's complete withdrawal from the occupied areas in Lebanon».

Furthermore, "the Resistance Front and Iran have decided to pursue the complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the activation of other fronts, including the Strait of Bab el-Mandeb, as part of their plan to punish the Zionists and their supporters ."

Tehran therefore interrupted the negotiations "in protest against Zionist crimes", because the Israeli attacks in Lebanon are considered a violation of the ceasefire.

The Strait of Bab el-Mandeb is one of the world's most important chokepoints for international trade and energy supplies : on the Arabian shore , it borders Yemen, and the Houthis, a group that controls large swathes of the country, are very close allies of Iran . Tehran is likely also referring to them when it speaks of a "resistance front."
