Iran's representative to the United Nations, Saeed Iravani, warned the UN Security Council that "continued US military actions in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz could produce catastrophic consequences that would extend far beyond the region and threaten international peace and security."

Iravani made the statement in a letter to the United Nations and the Security Council, condemning the US attacks on two Iranian oil tankers and other locations along Iran's coast in the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday evening.

According to Mehr, Iravani stressed that "the US act of piracy, through the attack on merchant ships and the naval blockade, constitutes a clear violation of the ceasefire." Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump returned to the White House late yesterday evening after attending the dinner at the LIV Golf Tournament in Sterling, Virginia.

Upon disembarking from Marine One, the tycoon, according to the journalists' report, greeted the press and raised his fist, declining to respond to shouted questions about whether he had "received any news from Iran" about his peace plan to end the conflict. Trump, on Friday afternoon, said he expected an Iranian response to his latest proposal for a lasting peace agreement "tonight."
