Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has been summoned for a possible opening of an investigation into her in the investigation into the 2020 retraction of the accusatory testimony against Nicolas Sarkozy by the intermediary Ziad Takieddine.

The affair is part of the developments of the investigation into the alleged financing of the 2007 presidential campaign, won by Sarkozy, with Libyan funds.

Sources close to the investigators have reported that the former top model and singer risks being charged with crimes such as complicity in influencing a witness or criminal conspiracy aimed at bribing Lebanese judges.

The former première dame, during the summons (the date of which is not known) could be put under investigation with the more favorable status of "witness informed of the facts".

Last May 2nd, Carla Bruni was questioned for 3 hours by the investigators, to whom she had tried to explain what her relationship was with a key figure in the affair, Michèle Marchand, known as Mimi, a leading figure in journalism in France, suspected of having orchestrated the reversal of the witness, the intermediary and businessman Ziad Takieddine.

In 2020, Takieddine, considered by Sarkozy to be his main accuser, suddenly exonerated - temporarily - the former president, contradicting his own previous accusations.

The investigators have long had suspicions about several people close to Sarkò - family members, collaborators, loyalists - who may have played a role in the retraction to undermine, in the continuation of the investigations, the credibility of Zakieddine himself, who after a few weeks retraced his steps by denying the retraction.
