A turning point in the case of the Holy See's funds that involves Monsignor Angelo Becciu with other people, including Fabrizio Tirabassi, an employee of the administrative department of the Vatican Secretariat of State and collaborator of the Sardinian prelate.
As reported by lawyers Massimo Bassi and Cataldo Intrieri, defenders of Tirabassi himself, “the Vatican court has canceled the indictment of our client and of other important and fundamental protagonists of the affair such as card. Angelo Becciu, the financiers Raffaele Mincione and Gianluigi Torzi and Msgr. Mauro Carlino. In fact, the sensational trial on the sale of the Sloane Square property is effectively canceled and limited to secondary offenses ".
"Not only - continue the lawyers - the Court also rejected the request to keep the actual statements of the main prosecutor Mgr. Perlasca 'confidential' to the promoters and asked the investigators for information on the condition of suspect of the prelate in other trials in order to to evaluate whether to quote him in the courtroom assisted by a lawyer. We remember - the lawyers continue - that Perlasca initially investigated and seriously suspected for the same crimes was dismissed without a formal provision justifying this choice ".
Bassi and Intrieri also explain that "the postponement to November 17 to the state does not concern the suspended defendants, in fact the process is currently paralyzed despite the attempts by the Court to bring the procedure back within the canons of legitimacy and legality provided for by international norms and to date seriously neglected ".
