The Mothers of Plaza de Mayo lose their iconic leader. Hebe de Bonafini has died at the age of 93. Her two sons and young daughter-in-law had disappeared, their names belong to the long list of disappeared, and Hebe had dedicated her whole life, wearing her pañuelo , the inseparable white handkerchief, to claiming justice and truth, challenging the military dictatorship Argentina at the turn of the 80s.

The government of President Alberto Fernandez has announced three days of mourning .

At the beginning of October, the woman had been hospitalized in the Italian hospital of La Plata for tests which had not highlighted any particular pathologies, but subsequently her ailments had returned, forcing her to be hospitalized again.

Known internationally, every Thursday she went down to the Plaza de Mayo to take part in the "rondas", called to remember how the Argentine dictatorship had caused many thousands of disappeared including her sons Jorge Omar and Raúl Alfredo.
