He had a 1 in over 1.6 million chance of winning the Virginia lottery. And he hit it hard, taking home a million dollars. To think that he bought the winning ticket almost by accident, after going out to buy chocolate milk for his children.
This is the incredible story, reported by the US media, of David Willoughby of North Chesterfield, who really closed his 2021 with a flourish.
The man, in recent days, had gone to the store closest to his home, as he had done so many times, to buy some chocolate milk that his boys were demanding.
Arriving at the cashier, however, before paying he also took a lottery ticket, a sort of "scratch card" with a million dollar jackpot. And it just so happened that that was the winning ticket.
The lucky winner was then able to choose between collecting the prize of one million dollars in annual payments spread over 30 years or to immediately collect 640,205 dollars gross and opted for the latter possibility.
