For 10 years he drugged his wife, looking for strangers to rape her. Today, in Avignon, the trial opened against Dominique P., 71 years old, and about fifty co-defendants from 26 to 74 years old. Unfortunately, only a part of those who took advantage of the victim's unconscious condition.
The trial is scheduled to continue until December 20 and today the victim, Gisàle P., 72, was present in the courtroom with her lawyers and three children.
Some of the defendants appeared in court wearing dark glasses, others with an anti-Covid mask covering their face. Among them firefighters, artisans, nurses, journalists, prison guards. Single, married, divorced.
"Everyone knew" that his wife was drugged without her knowledge, said her husband, who – it emerged from the investigation – participated in the violence against his wife and filmed it: "He is ashamed of what he did, it is unforgivable," Béatrice Zavarro, his lawyer, told the judges. Ninety-two acts of violence were recorded from 2011, when the couple still lived in the Paris region, until 2020, when they had moved to Mazan, a town of 6,000 inhabitants in the south of France. Each time, the husband, a former employee of the French energy giant Edf, administered a powerful tranquilizer to his wife. The rapists were given precise instructions not to wake the victim: no perfume or cigarette smell, and to warm their hands under hot water.
Investigators, rummaging through his computer, discovered photos and videos of his unconscious wife being raped by strangers. The man is implicated in other legal cases, such as a rape-murder in Paris in 1991 in which he has always denied any wrongdoing, and an attempted rape in 1999. In which he confessed, but only after being framed by DNA evidence.
The victim did not realize anything and discovered everything that had happened to her only at the age of 68.
