First he released the video of a hostage, then he announced his death "in an Israeli raid" .
Hamas ' macabre announcement arrived this afternoon. The images released are of Nadav Popplewell, a 51 year old Israeli, kidnapped in the Nirim kibbutz on 7 October together with his mother, who was later released.
In the video, the hostage declares his personal details, then the images stop and a question mark appears .
The answer came within a couple of hours, in another video released by Hamas: " Popplewell died from wounds sustained in an Israeli raid more than a month ago ", says Abu Obeida, spokesperson for the Qassam Brigades.
He adds: «His condition has deteriorated and it has not been possible to treat him in hospitals due to the destruction of hospitals in Gaza by the enemy ».
