The Israeli government has chosen to suspend the sanctions that were due to go into effect today, including the reduction of humanitarian aid and the closure of the Rafah crossing on the Gaza-Egypt border. This was reported by public broadcaster Kan.

The measures were taken after Hamas initially handed over only the remains of four of the 28 killed hostages.

The lifting of the sanctions came after Hamas returned the bodies of four more hostages last night (the identification process could take up to two days) and announced that it would return four more bodies today.
