According to Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, Hamas's new military chief , Muhammad Odeh, has been killed in an IDF raid in the Gaza Strip . The announcement came in a post published on X by Katz himself, while Israeli sources cited by the daily Ynet confirm that Odeh died in an airstrike that hit Gaza City. Subsequently, further bombings took place in the Strip, which, according to initial reports, resulted in at least two deaths and more than ten injuries.

Hamas sources in the Gaza Strip, contacted by the daily newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, also confirmed the death of Muhammad Odeh . According to the reconstruction, the commander was hit in an apartment in the Rimal neighborhood, in the center of Gaza City. The same sources reported that his wife and children were also killed in the raid. Yesterday, the IDF announced that it had targeted Odeh, identified as the new leader of Hamas's military wing. In a joint statement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz called Odeh "one of the architects of the October 7 massacre."

According to Israel, Odeh headed Hamas's intelligence headquarters during the October 7 attacks and was appointed about a week ago to replace Izz ad-Din Haddad, who was killed by the Israeli army in another raid in the Strip about two weeks ago.
