In France, the new government led by Prime Minister Sebastian Lecornu is ready to take office.

French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed 18 ministers, the backbone of the executive branch, which will meet in council for the first time on Monday afternoon. The prime minister will deliver his general policy address on Tuesday.

Lecornu first asked his ministers to be "negotiators and find compromises with all parliamentarians." This request comes amid the fact that he lacks a majority in the National Assembly and is threatened with censure by the opposition.
