Thomas Markle, father of the Duchess of Sussex, has been arrested on federal charges of possession of child pornography, following a search of warehouses in California believed to be linked to him.

Markle, 82, was arrested in Florida but faces federal charges in the Central District of California. He previously denied the charges, saying he was "shocked" and "hurt" by the accusations and maintaining that he "could never have done" what he is accused of.

According to the indictment, federal investigators found sexually explicit photographs in the storage units depicting Markle with minors.

Authorities interviewed a witness who has known Markle since the 1970s and who, according to court documents, identified him as the man depicted in at least two photographs with a minor. The FBI then compared those images with others found in one of the storage facilities, concluding that they appeared to depict Markle himself.
