Manhunt in both New York and Washington to track down what has been dubbed the "homeless killer".

It is a suspect who shot five homeless people in about ten days, killing two.

The attacks took place in the Big Apple and in the US capital: apparently independent facts, but on which the police departments of the two cities have identified a modus operandi that does not exclude that it is only one person to act.

Photos have also been released showing a man dressed all in black holding a gun and his hand covered in a surgical glove. Behind him what looks like a sleeping homeless man.

It is no coincidence that the killer seems to attack his victims while they are in their sleep. The first three episodes occurred in Washington DC between March 3 and 9 in the northeastern area. Two of the victims suffered gunshot wounds while in another case the police intervened for a camp tent which burned down. Inside was found the body of a man who was shot and stabbed. In New York, the attacks took place in Lower Manhattan, one near the Holland Tunnel, which connects the city to the state of New Jersey, the other, deadly, in SoHo. It is not the first time that acts of violence against homeless people have occurred in New York.

In 2019 a series of attacks resulted in the deaths of four people in Chinatown while in 2021, in a series of stabbings, two people died and four were injured. The attacks come at a time when Mayor Eric Adams is trying to remove the homeless population from both the streets and subway stations.
