Tragedy in Antwerp, where a ten-story building caught fire. At least six people were killed and several injured. The building is located in the Linkeroever neighborhood. Rescue workers are continuing their search for any other victims.

Upon their arrival, firefighters noticed a significant amount of smoke and immediately launched a large-scale evacuation operation. "Our teams are still busy evacuating residents. We don't yet know exactly how many people are still inside. Our teams are mobilized for evacuations while the fire is not yet under control. This will keep us busy for several hours," explained Marie De Clercq, spokesperson for the Antwerp fire department, according to RTL info.

In total, more than 200 people live in the building. The fire broke out shortly before 10 a.m. in an apartment building located on August Vermeylen Avenue, in the Linkeroever neighborhood, on the left bank of the Meuse River in Antwerp. The fire started on the eighth floor of the ten-story building . In a dramatic video, according to the BBC, a man climbs down from his balcony through a neighbor's window to escape the black smoke.

King Philip also arrived on site.

Police declined to provide details on the identities of the victims, but said several injured people were in hospital.
