Giulia Manfrini, a 36-year-old surfer and influencer from Venaria Reale, in the province of Turin, died yesterday morning in the Mentawai Islands, Indonesia , injured by a swordfish while she was surfing in the ocean. She was 36 years old.

The death occurred at the Pei Pei Pasakiat Taileleu Health Center where the woman was transported by two people who gave her first aid. It was learned that the 36-year-old was hit by a swordfish in the chest , resulting in a wound several centimeters deep. She died shortly after arriving at the medical center.

Born and raised in Venaria, where her parents live, she had moved to Portugal some time ago .

According to the acting head of the Mentawai Islands Regional Disaster Management Agency, Lahmudin Siregar, the accident occurred while Giulia was chasing waves yesterday morning in the waters of Pulau Masokut island. "Suddenly, a swordfish jumped towards Manfrini and hit her in the chest," he said, quoted by the Indonesian agency Antara.

According to information obtained by the police, Manfrini asked for help from two people on the spot, whom the Indonesian agency identifies as Alexandre Ribas and Massimo Ferro. The two quickly provided first aid and took her to the Pei Pei Pasakiat Taileleu medical center, but there was nothing they could do for the woman.
