Perry Archangelo Bamonte, longtime guitarist and keyboardist for The Cure, has died at the age of 65.

The band announced the news on its official website, specifying that the musician passed away after a short illness during the Christmas holidays.

"It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our great friend and bandmate Perry Bamonte, who passed away at home after a short illness," they wrote on their website. "Quiet, intense, intuitive, consistent, and supremely creative, Teddy was a vital part of The Cure's story. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family. We will miss him greatly."
